Get to Know the OFW Reintegration Program A Little Better

One of the programs and services provided by the Overseas Workers Welfare Association or OWWA is the Reintegration Program. This program aims to help returning overseas Filipino workers and their families through livelihood opportunities and other income-generating means.

Hence, the birth of OFW Reintegration Program. Understanding the OFW Reintegration Program

Also known as OWWA Loan or OFW Loan in the Philippines, this program is a loan facility and an enterprise development intervention of OWWA in partnership with Land Bank of the Philippines and Development Bank of the Philippines. It aims to support enterprise development among migrant workers and their families as an alternative to overseas employment.

Loan Features:

  • Only OFWs who are active members and are certified by OWWA can apply for the OFW Reintegration Program. Eligible borrower can either be individual (single proprietorship) or by group (partnership, cooperative, or corporation).
  • Purpose of the loan must be for working capital or fixed asset acquisition.
  • Loanable amount is between P100,000 to P2,000,000
  • Short term loan is for maximum of one year, while long term loan depends on the cashflow, but most not exceed seven years and inclusive of two years grace period.
  • 7.5% interest rate per annum
  • Proposed business must generate at least P10,000 net monthly income. It could be a franchising business, transport service, trading or service business, construction or rental, agri and non-agri production or manufacturing, or contract tie-up with Top 1000 corporations.
  • Loan security is required such as real estate mortgage, chattel on equipment or machinery, Deed of Assignment on inventory or receivables, or hold-out on deposit

Below are the requirements for OFW Loan  you need to submit in case you want to avail of this facility:

  • OWWA certification as proof that you are a bona fide member

  • Business-related documents and permits such as business plan, Certificate of Registration with DTI, and Mayor’s Permit
  • If applicable, at least three years Income Tax Return, BIR-filed Financial Statements, and latest Interim Financial Statements
  • Statement of Assets and Liabilities

How to Apply for OFW Loan:

1. Visit the OWWA Office near you to undergo the required training. You will be asked to undergo trainings in relation to this loan facility.

2. Secure the EDT certification then submit the other requirements to Landbank for evaluation and processing.

3. Wait for at least 45 days upon submission of complete loan requirements to know the status of your loan application.

It is important that you submit complete requirements to avoid any delay and for faster processing of loan application.

    Thanx.

    1. Is it compulsory to have a collateral when getting a loan? I am a former OFW. I don’t have something to collateral. I want to start a business. Please reply.
      Thanks
      Filma

      1. Hello Filma. Collateral depends on the type of loan you are applying for. For loan facilities like housing, auto, or business loan, collateral is required since it serves as a security. On the other hand, personal loans or cash loans need not any collateral. In case you plan to start a business and you need funds, we suggest that you apply with a co-maker who is in good credit standing to increase your chances of approval.

  2. i am interested. can i ask what if i will use it for purchasing a TRICYCLE. what are the permits you needed and i am currently working abroad. what are the process for this. my husband is in the Philippines right now.

    1. Hello Janice. Sorry to hear about your experience.

May bracket sila. Marami sa amin ang lalo lang daw cla naistress after the seminar.

      1. Hi Margarita! Is this about the Enterprise Development Training? What were discussed? 🙂 Thank you for sharing your experience.

  10. Hi sir/ madam,
Great day po.

    1. Hi Marlon. The purpose of the OFW Reintegration Program is to help jumpstart OFW’s entrepreneurial career. As much as they want to help every OFW who applies, they need to be strict with the requirements, which is why they require the Enterprise Development Training where you will be taught how to do your business plan plus immersion. If the purpose is simply to buy a farm tractor, then OWWA might not grant the loan – unless you have an existing business related to farming at gagamitin mo ang funds pambili ng farming-related equipment upang mapalago ang iyong negosyo. Salamat.

    1. Hello Luzviminda. OWWA follows a specific process: Enterprise Development Training – submission of requirements, including loan documents – processing of loan application that usually takes 40 days. You can consider other lenders if you want faster and less hassle loan application. Thanks!

  12. Hello 2yrs na po akong x ofw natapos ko ang first contract ko at nagextend ako for another 6mos pero umuwi dn ako.

    1. Hi Genelyn. If yes, you are still qualified to apply for OWWA Loan since OEC is a requirement na kailangan i-submit.

Thks

    1. Hello Robert. Apparently, OEC is among the requirements to prove that you are OFW; hence may be qualified for the loan. The OEC also shows your capacity to pay to help guarantee approval. That is why it is best to apply for a loan before the contract ends and then appoint an attorney-in-fact to act on our behalf while you are still abroad.

  14. Hi sir/madam. Is it possible to apply for a loan while overseas? Thank you!

    1. Hello Jonathan. Yes, it’s possible that you can apply for an OWWA Loan while you are overseas. You just need to submit a Special Power of Attorney authorizing someone to represent you on your behalf. Apparently, you must personally undergo the EDT since you are the borrower. Thanks!

  15. Good day! We plan to turn our newly acquired not fully paid farm lot into an agricultural business para makapag for good na po. Working capital (to start up a farm business)

If OWWA requires an existing contract, dapat po while we are still employed magapply na? Pwede po ba yun paguwi ng Phils for vacation magaapply and kailangan ba may business plan na upon application? Panu po pagbalik namin dito how can we know if the loan is approved?

    Thank you!

    1. Hello Zette. Asset acquisition might not be allowed by OWWA even if the purpose is to eventually start a farm business. Regarding your other concerns, yes, dapat may existing employment contract to be able to qualify for OWWA Loan. The business plan will be executed during the Enterprise Development Training (learn more about it here – http://www.ofwloans.ph/enterprise-development-training-a-requirement-you-need-to-comply-when-applying-for-owwa-loan/). You can assign someone to be yur attoeny-in-fact thru SPA while you are still here in the Philippines para no need to consularize 🙂

    1. Hi Elvie. The OWWA Loan is intended po for OFWs na may existing employment contract. We’re still not sure if they will allow former OFWs to avail of the loan.

    1. Hi Florame. One of the requirements for OWWA Loan is the OEC. We are not sure if OWWA Loan can extend the program to formers OFWs, so it is best to contact them directly about it. Here is their number: 8917601 local 5401 / 5402 / 5403 / 5418

    1. Hi Carmie. OWWA is “strict” when it comes to businesses they will approve. As much as they want to help every OFW to put up their own business, they scrutinize every loan application submitted to them. If your plan is to open carinderia, you can consider other lenders po who can help you with this since loan processing with OWWA takes time. Salamat!

  19. Hi good day.itatanong ko lang sana regarding sa integration loan.nakasaad dito na para ito sa mgs ex ofw and ofw sa rin.peru sa mga nababasa ko sa sagot ninyo na one of the requirements is OEC and existing contract. If you’re an ex ofw Wala kanang contract kasi nag for good na. So ibig bang sabihin na Hindi talaga qualified ang mgs nag for good na na ofw?Paki clarify po.thanks have a nice day.

    1. Hi Juliet. Yes, unfortunately, one of the requirements is OEC, which means there should be an existing contract.

  20. good day po.ofw po aq currently in qatar.

    1. Hi Bella. First step po is to attend an Enterprise Development Training sa pinakamalapit na OWWA office. Once done with the training, that’s the time na makakapag-submit kayo ng requirements upang ma-process ang inyong loan application. Please check this post for a step-by-step procedure po on how to apply for OWWA Loan – http://www.ofwloans.ph/step-by-step-procedure-on-how-to-apply-for-owwa-loan/

    1. Hi there! Salamat.

Gusto niya na mag business nalang kme dito. , may paraan ba pra makatulong kayo? salamat sa sagot

    1. Hi Robin! The OFW Reintegration Program is for documented OFWs. If you want po, kayo po ang mag-open ng business and apply for ordinary business loan since hindi rin po maclassify ang inyong mother as OFW.

  24. hi po, ask ko lang if pwde mag loan for processing ng permanent residency application.i have employment contract na and complete requirements na po.fees na lng po ang problem ko.may maioffer po ba kayo na loan for me?

    1. Hi Helma! Unfortunately, the OWWA Loan is strictly for business purposes only and not for personal use. Don’t worry. There are other lenders who offer personal loan for OFWs to help you with your financial needs 🙂
